The End

This was a layover day.

I hiked out ot Punta Rosa, climbing up an arroyo onto the flat mesa. The wind is strong today, there was no morning calm. Some of the others had gone ahead and I felt rather intrepid going off on my own through the desert shrubs, cactus, and sharp rocks. About a half mile out I saw the others disappear down a crevice, so I ran and stood at the top near the end of the point. I spied them wandering around on the beach, picking up fish skeletons and taking pictures. I stood on the edge waving my arms to make shadows on their shirts, but they didn't notice. I played at tracking them from above as they made their way around the point - but finally Jan spotted me and my game was up.

Some of the others went snorkeling to look at whale bones that were laced into the rocky reefs. Unfortunately, the water was too turbulent and murky to give them any good sights.

We had bonfire number two combined with light sticks that Jan and Roger had ordered from the web. Once they were passed out, there were ten children on the beach, playing with colored light.
