Book Review The Insomnia Cure from Awake to Zzzzz By John Wiedman Reviewed by Sarah Richards ![]() So, you've made it through the maze of trying to figure out what is wrong. You've found out you don't have a sleep disorder nor a physical health problem that is robbing you of sleep. You've really got primary insomnia and now you wander around trying to figure out what to do. John Wiedman has created a support-group-in-a-book for you. He takes you along his own journey of finding sleep when it had eluded him for years. He is an author who writes from having been through all he recommends. This is partly what makes it more appealing. Another appealing and unique aspect is the glimpse into the community he has built through the internet. The book is filled with messages from other insomniacs that he has encountered in his searching on the web and interacting with people all over the world. I find this form of a support group most interesting, due to the nature of the need for a considerable amount of support needed by anyone who is seriously bent upon conquering insomnia. Most insomnia must be addressed by life-style changes. That is a most distressing and frustrating fact for the weary, sleep-deprived insomniac who is looking for some help. It is a soothing thing, then, to have a book that acknowledges most of the doubts and struggles that accompany changing ones life in order to get sleep and that can reassure the weary traveler that the road is the correct one. To Wiedman's credit, he acknowledges the presence of sleep disorders that require a different treatment approach. He also addresses the various forms of insomnia and the different approaches that can be useful. The book would be even better if it included both the usefulness of a good therapist in helping make life-style changes and the therapies available through Oriental Medicine in its various forms. Both of these arenas have been enormously helpful to many insomnia sufferers. I'd prescribe his book as a must read along with a good counselor, a little Oriental Medicine as needed, and a warm-blooded support group to help get over the rough spots.

For that reason, I am offering a money-back guarantee with no time limit for any reason if the book is ordered through Towering Pines Press. Unfortunately, I cannot give the same offer for books bought through other sources as there has been a substantial discount given to other sellers. |
